Some Gym Observations

I had some spare time on my hands this morning. I ran on the treadmill for 45 minutes this morning and I don't know about you but I start to get bored after a little while. When I'm bored on the treadmill I can't help but people watch. I would never say anything to my fellow gym members but if I could here are a few things I would say:
  • To insanely muscular guy- C'mon guy there's a Powerhouse gym right down the road. You're a buzz kill when you scream and grunt and then drop 100 pound dumbbells. This is a family fitness center.
  • To Person running backwards on treadmill- WTF? Yes the reason you are out of shape is because of the lack of backwards running in your fitness routine. How about we focus on the basics? 
  • To guy rocking back 2 foot while he is doing a barbell curl- Again we are in a family fitness center. You can lower the weight so you can lift with proper form. The 42 year old soccer mom isn't going to laugh.
  • To guy who wipes down every machine BEFORE they use it- You are lifting weights because you want to get stronger right? Someone already wiped the machine down after they used it so why don't you let your immunities see a germ here or there? Resistance training for your immunities!
Cooking Class Tomorrow- My wife for Christmas got me a cooking class at Williams-Sonoma. I'm really looking forward to learning a new technique and recipe. Hoping to take a few pictures and post the experience here!

  1. I'm not sure but I think there is a fitness reason for running backward on the treadmill. It may have something to do with strengthening knees after an injury? Now the other things - I totally agree! Have fun at your cooking class!

  2. I wish I had a treadmill to jump on... My mother has one inside of her living room which she fails to use. I believe she's exercised on it about 2 times since she purchased it a few months ago. I would sign up for a gym membership but we don't have a car to get there. If we walked, it would probably take us about 6 hours to get there. BTW, we'd have to cross the highway just to make it there.

    When we used to attend our regular work out gym, I remember wiping down the machine only ONE time.
